Svenska nu and Sydkusten’s word art school celebrate 50 years with Alfie Atkins

Svenska nu has in collaboration with Sydkustens ordkonstskola produced word art material that highlights the celebration of Gunilla Bergström’s beloved children’s book character Alfons Åberg. In the spring of 2022, word art workshops will also be arranged where Finnish-speaking primary school students can play with the Swedish language together with a teacher from Sydkustens word art school.

The word art material that Svenska nu and Sydkustens word art school have produced is based on the character Alfie Atkins and the Alfie Atkins books “A party, Alfie Atkins!” and “Very Tricky, Alfie Atkins”. The purpose of the material is to inspire teachers and students to play with language and stories and provide an outlet for students’ creative joy independently and together with others. The material is aimed at Swedish teaching in primary school and is particularly suitable for language bath classes, but can also be adapted to other Swedish teaching.
